Californians Gather To Celebrate Annual Wildfire Tradition

So, I keep asking my friends in California, explain to me why you live there again?

• You have the annual Wildfire festival.
• In the odd year that the Rains come, you have massive mudslides and flooding.
• You have one of the highest tax burdens in the country.
• And you have to deal with the insanity vortex in the Bay Area.
• Oh, and the occasional earthquake that could always be the potential (and often predicted) Big One.

Wow, makes living with a 14,000 foot volcano less than 60 miles away seem almost idealic.  I guess I can put up with the rainy season in Puget Sound (the time of the year known to out of staters as “Fall/Winter/Spring”).

Berkeley continues its attempt to rival San Francisco as the capital of Military Derangement.

It seems like it was mostly just the vigorous activities of Code pink, as noted in this blog, that accounted for the Military hatred, but now the City has climbed into bed with Code Pink in their battle against the Marine Corps. Via Michelle Malkin:

In response to a Marine Corps recruiting office established in Berkeley last year, local activists are trying to make it more difficult for future recruiting centers to open in the city.

If passed by a majority of Berkeley voters, a proposed initiative would require military recruiting offices and private military companies in Berkeley to first acquire a special use permit.

To obtain this permit, a business must hold public hearings and a public comment period.

Amid heightened fears over campus safety since last week’s murderous shooting rampage at Virginia Tech, three more colleges on Tuesday were the scenes of disruptive threats.
