Seattle School District still teaches racist definitions of race

Published by PerriNelson at 7:48 am under Northwest

Do you recall the controversy a couple of years ago regarding the Seattle School District’s definition of Racism? Well, they may have taken down the old racist definition of racism, but they haven’t completely eliminated the racist message behind it… If you follow THIS link, you’ll find that they define cultural racism as

“These aspects of society that overtly and covertly attribute value and normality to white people and whiteness, and devalue, stereotype, and label people of color as “other”, different, less than, or render them invisible.”

They also reference "I Can Fix It" by damali ayo.

The very first thing to notice about this “art project”, is that it is first directed only at white people who, apparently, are the only people capable of racism. When it moves on to “people of color”, it speaks only about dealing with white racism, assuming that "people of color" cannot be racist.

And by the way, don’t use the term “diverse peoples,” it’s grammatically incorrect. I imagine that you shouldn’t use the term “diverse people” either, because damali ayo claims that it’s racist! Personally, I don’t think that damali ayo knows what she’s talking about. “Diverse peoples” refers not to a group exhibiting diversity, but rather to several different groups of people, possibly of different cultures or nationalities. It IS grammatically correct to use the term that way. As for racist? Some people see racism in the word socialism, a word that names a political and economic philosophy rather than a code-word for race.

The Seattle School District hasn’t changed their racist definition of race. They’ve just made it harder to dig out of their website. What they have to say isn’t quite as offensive as it used to be, but I imagine digging deeper might find that maybe it is after all.

From the highly offensive and racist "I Can Fix It":
"Understand that reverse racism is an impossibility."
    really?!?

Typical Seattle School District BS. I agree with comment #1: The “I can Fix It” pamphlet is highly racist, intolerant, and hateful. There. Have I used enough code-words for PC idiocy?

This is most unfortunate that the District does teach not only racisium, but also resentment. I have had multiple negative acts I have occurred from people in my life, as so many of us have. Until I was forced into the cultural classes in which we were not taught culture, only resentment against the white race. In 2006 the District put on a very nice multi cultural workshop for those of color only. White was not permitted to attend. “There will be several other workshops you may attend.
