I have suspended Possums author status.
I am tired of defending his rudeness and attacks in the name of idea diversity.
Should he agree to embrace ideas over abuse he is welcome back. Until then, he is limited to abuse in comments.

I am sorry now that I ever brought up the issue. Honestly. This is not the outcome I wanted. That’s why I’ve decided to completely change the character of my posting here. As for abuse, I will not respond to it, so I guess I’m fair game.
Apropos of the discussion: My significant other ( to whom I am married), received a phone call from a close relative in California last night. They discussed the fires briefly, but only briefly, because the caller lapsed into Bush Derangement Syndrome-Katrina talk. When significant other disagreed on a point of fact, civilly, the response was scatalogical , colonic and physically impossible. In short, some people just can’t debate or dispute ideas and positions in a lively fashion, be intellectually challenged, without sinking to invective and diatribe, not even in the presence of fact. Ain’t possible. Won’t happen. Maybe we should have a doormat that says "Bare knuckles allowed. Leave all sucker punches, switchblades and assault weapons at the door ".
