Well said, Mr. Nelson. Both your global warming references and comments on civility and you-know-who. I'd been wondering the same thing. And as for iron strengthening iron, LSU, 'tis true, but here we have a substance of an organic nature, no steel atall -- and see? I feel almost compelled to sink a level or two or forty and just had to delete the words steaming and offensive to the olfactory gland from the last sentence. Please excuse a personal reference: After trying subtlety, and levity in the face of general rudeness, and receiving a personal attack (when I, perhaps had a right to be personally offended, but was only saddened), * I decided to just consider the source, like Mater and Pater advised when I was a just little snot. Rather than chance sinking to the level of our excrement flinging fellow blogger, (who I suspect would like nothing more than to bring out the worst in us, thus exposing the true and venal nastiness perceived in anyone who isn't on his team), I'm going to have to choose the cloak of invisibility. He'll be wearing it.*I'm referring to comments section of the aforementioned's Israeli products and manufacturing post. I'd been away for awhile and tried to catch up by reading lots of old posts the other day. I responded to that one with some real info and tried to keep it light, even, I thought I made a joke out of a personal slur, but not only was the response rather hideous on a too personal level, the person in question seemed to be incapable of digesting the proffered information. It was as if a laundry list of manufacturing and achievement just didn't exist. Oh, well. None so blind as they who will not see. --Or maybe it's just a "random rude comment generator" with an impressively big algorithm! For anyone who really cares about alternative energy sources: I just heard about an Israeli company doing R&D on a car that they will attempt with a power platform that makes hydrogen in situ, from a couple of different metals, one of which is zinc. Hmmm.I for one intend to cut my carbon footprint by 50% immediately. Starting right now I'm only going to exhale every other breath. *rim shot*

When I invited him I knew his tendencies as I think most did. He is rude, abusive and biased far above his stated political leanings.

I dont particularly get offended by his childishness, my daughter could throw better insults by age 8.

And you are right, he is a perfect example of the kos-mentality that attacks the messenger, not the message, and subtitutes ad hominem attacks for factual and rational discussion, though that is not entirely why i let him stay.

Iron sharpens iron, and I like a voice of dissent because it stimulates dicussion. I'd rather it be a rational one, and occasionally he steps up to that, but other then inviting Mike Hood or Goldy, he is all we got, and at least he is occasionally entertaining where those other two guys are scary.

So I say let him stay, and let his insanity be exposed to the light of day for all to see. If I remove him, I only feed his belief that his is the only rational voice and we are all afraid of it.

Pseudoscience is using mathematical models which aren't even good enough to forecast accurately out beyond a few days to make predictions about events over a period of years. Pseudoscience is ignoring the fact that the carbon signature in atmospheric gases apparently lags behind temperature fluctuations by several decades. Pseudoscience is ignoring actual experimental evidence (I pointed to some in the posts I linked to) that doesn't fit with your political agenda. So far there's not a single bit of actual experimental evidence to support the supposition that climate change is being forced by mankind.

If I'm a die hard prude that's fine. When you begin your post by implying that I'm a drooling idiot you are out of line. Attacking the person that presents a message you disagree with is childish and does nothing to invalidate their message. When you begin each comment that way, continue in follow up comments with name calling, and end with name calling you aren't contributing anything that is meaningful, you're just being spiteful and rude, lacking in any kind of civility.

I provided links to evidence that global warming is not necessarily manmade. I provided a link to the Times Online article regarding the court decision that found that Al Gore LIED or DISTORTED several key points in his documentary in order to inflate concerns. While the judge did find that there was a substantial amount of actual scientific research behind it, the documentary was merely a political vehicle to assert an alarmist point of view. The fictions, lies, and distortions should disqualify it as a "documentary", and I provided a link to a statement that this is the case. None of this is apparently of any consequence to you. Instead, it's "insulting" and "airheaded".

Frankly why Karl puts up with you on his site escapes me. Perhaps he simply thinks that you are a perfect example of the intolerant, nasty, and self-righteous liberal that serves as a perfect counterpoint to rational statements from the other bloggers here.

Bunk... Talk about pseudoscience... But that's perfect. You prove you are a monkey and like all monkeys won't give up a bit of the hoard! Malthusians are wrong until they are right... If you really understood this topic you would see the monkey man has fluorished in a rare time of conditions that suit him... Now the monkey is helping to hasten its own die back... Evolution wins! Which is also perfect!

And its about time.

BTW, a sure sign of a die-hard prude is someone who calls the other out of order after writing an insulting airheaded post like you started with...

Possum, I'm getting really tired of your beginning each comment with an insult. You're lucky I didn't simply delete this one.
Sunspots account for about 20%. Solar radiation increases another 45 to 45%. That's hardly a small potatoes effect.
As for C02, nature spews more into the air than man does, by a large amount. Volcanoes contribute more in a single eruption than a years worth of human emissions.
Malthus was wrong, and has been proven wrong time and again. Dire predictions of resources "running out" have been made over and over again, yet somehow we always find ways to obtain more. According to the Malthusians, we should have all starved already.
We have no business getting involved in the internal affairs of China or any other Asian culture. I think you'll find that they too will learn how to use technology to mitigate the pollution that they create. All technologically advanced societies so far have done so.
The only loons I think we have to worry about are the ones that constantly spew bile. That would be people like you.

Now wipe the spit off your chin and keyboard...

First of all, Preacher Gore does practice what he preaches. If you had paid attention to everything he has said and done, you would realize he preaches sacrifice for the masses, not the elites... He's part of the elite... And you can count the number of times elites in any time or place have sacrificed themselves for the good of man on the fingers of one hand... American Elites haven’t been into sacrifice since Yorktown...

May terrorists take them all...

So shut up and sacrifice... It’s what you exist for...

Second, the logic of the award is that climate change will foment war, and that’s a likely proposition...

Third, man is definitely fuelling the global warming fire. Sure, climate mediation is a complex process, but anyone can see plainly the atmosphere is the primary mediator and we’re diddling with it. The rest of the forces implicated – sunspots, cosmic rays, solar cycles, precessionary wobbles, are small potatoes and few in the hill.

Finally, warming doesn’t mean warming everywhere all the time. It “means” change... Some winners, some losers. Change has been going on as long as there has been a climate to change. The rates and effects haven’t been consistent. In the tiny time man has kept records, whole regions have evolved from lush to worthless by our standards... Much of the Sahara was once a paradise.

Man has definitely promoted the cycle...

It’s the wrong focus, the wrong messenger, and the wrong argument. Gore’s narrow focus ignores huge issues like deforestation and population growth and leads to faulty assumptions which yield faulty “solutions” – stuff like carbon credits and biofuels...

We cannot manage our way out of this fix. The real question is, what will happen when the 5/6ths of the world currently “deprived” by our standards demand – economically – “our” lifestyle. If you can ignore the first indications, will you be able to ignore them times five or ten? Every time a country becomes more affluent, they pick up the worst of “our” bad habits – the gluttonous cars, the meat diets, he junk for junk’s sake... Oh, but that’s capitalist freedom? Freedom be damned... Capitalism can’t be allowed to degenerate into a suicide pact...

And don’t kid yourself – the cultures of most of Asia – especially the Chinese and Hindu _ don’t give a mutated rat’s ass about the environment... They will pollute until it kills them – and US, if we let them.

Olso is right even if Gore is a loon... The resource wars are a comin’...
