Ending The Culture Of Corruption

Well, that's what the Democrats claimed they were going to do, at any rate.

WASHINGTON (AP) — William Jefferson, D-La., was indicted Monday on federal charges of racketeering, money-laundering and soliciting more than $400,000 in bribes in connection with years of trying to broker business deals in Africa. He is the first sitting congressman to face charges under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, which prohibits corporate bribery overseas. Jefferson is to be arraigned Friday in U.S. District Court in Alexandria. To say nothing of the $90,000 found stuffed in his freezer. This is truly amazing stuff. But Hillary will make it all better.

Then, on the local front, we have an Oregon Democrat making big news all on her own: that'd be Senator Betsy Johnson, out of Scappoose.  Perhaps we should call it SCAMpoose. As NWRepublican notes, and giving credit when due to The O, she's had a rather huge ethical lapse start swirling around, stinking up the place like a CSO spill during Rose Festival.  And questions are being directed toward others in the Democrat sector as well.

Comprehensive traffic reform

What is it about politicians these days? They all seem to be hooked on “comprehensive” solutions to complex problems. “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” comes to mind.

It seems to me that often these “comprehensive” solutions are often worse than the problems they’re trying to solve. What’s wrong with the “divide and conquer” approach anyway?

I write software for a living. There’s no way that I would even attempt to create a “comprehensive” software package all at once. Instead, I analyze the problem and break it down into smaller problems. I try to keep a big picture of the whole problem so that I have a guide for where I want to go, but I solve the smaller problems individually. It tends to work better that way.

William “Icebox” Jefferson indicted….finally - AM Updates

UPDATED BELOW:

About time.  I can't believe how long this has taken.

I am sure building the case against him was difficult, because finding $90,000 in bribery cash wrapped in foil in his freezer is so ambiguous.

Report: Democratic Rep. Jefferson to face more than a dozen charges in federal indictment

Rep. William Jefferson (D-LA) is set to face more than a dozen public corruption charges from federal authorities, according to breaking news reports. A maximum sentence for Jefferson could reportedly result in 200 years in prison.

"Sources tell CBS News that authorities are seeking an indictment against Congressman William Jefferson, D-La., on more than a dozen counts involving public corruption. Details soon," reads a banner at the top of the CBS News website Monday afternoon.

The Associated Press added that the charges against Jefferson were substantial, and the penalties could be significant.
