The aftermath of Virginia Tech: Paranoia brings false accusations

No one can blame school administrators from being somewhat…err…well to pardon the expression, gun shy in the wake of the VT shooting.

One of the dangers I blogged about earlier was the constant stream of experts all pointing to this or that as a warning sign of potential behavior so as to answer our burning need to know "why", and who is to blame:

As soon as the news of the massacre had really sunk in, I waited for what I knew would inevitably happen.

The Blaming.

So far, we have the Devil, violent video games, Guns, hedonism, Guns, Al Qeada, Guns and occasionally Guns.

To me the whole concept of "why" is an exercise in futility.  As much as anyone could explain this, only the killer can come close, assuming he actually knew what drove him, and he took that with him to whatever awaited him in the afterlife.  All we get are speculations, theories, allegations, accusations and the like.

I got a message for that punk…

Who just threatened my alma mater Skagit Valley College (and all the other schools the past week).

You really think your threat did anything more than simply bring out the friends of the school?

You really think your threats are going to scare people that much longer?

Guess what, I'm not afraidNor are my fellow Cardinals.  And I'm going to offer the college administration an undisclosed amount next week to start a security fund as an alumnus.  Nice going, punk jihadi.

(I clicked Oregon in the labels because of the link.)

“I Got A Message For That Douche Harry Reid”

Read THIS, pal.

Yeah, the soldier doesn't know proper English but he's just a Corporal risking his life for our rights.  More man than me.

To Your Health!

Mexico's new secretary of health evidently can't find enough to do back home, so he visited San Francisco yesterday to "work" with state officials to meet the healthcare needs of the millions of Mexicans living in California. Stating that he plans to meet with U.S. health officials every six months, "We can build a new model for attention to the health needs of Mexican workers here," said Jose Angel Cordova Villalobos, appointed by Mexico's new president, Felipe Calderon.

James Edwards Jr., a fellow with the conservative Hudson Institute in Washington, D.C., said Cordova's visit sent a positive but insufficient message.

"Most of the time, the Mexican government comes to the U.S. to ask for handouts," he said. "It's never to say, 'We want to pay the bills our citizens have been causing your taxpayers.' Why don't you take care of your own? We've got plenty of uninsured Americans."

For Once, Rosie Is Right

Sheryl Crow and her newest buddy, Laurie David, managed to get in and to accost Karle Rove at the recent White House Correspondents' Association dinner.  As Rove learned, you don't want to be downwind of "The Frugal Wiper".

Replying to Crow's call to use only one square of toilet paper per bathroom visit, Rosie O'Donnel had this to say:  "Have you seen my ass?"

Virginia Tech and the US Flags at Half Staff: An insult to the troops?

One soldier thinks so:

Soldier: Honor troops like Va. Tech dead

An Army sergeant complained in a rare opinion article that the U.S. flag flew at half-staff last week at the largest U.S. base in Afghanistan for those killed at Virginia Tech but the same honor is not given to fallen U.S. troops here and in Iraq.

In the article issued Monday by the public affairs office at Bagram military base north of Kabul, Sgt. Jim Wilt lamented that his comrades' deaths have become a mere blip on the TV screen, lacking the "shock factor" to be honored by the Stars and Stripes as the deaths at Virginia Tech were.

"I find it ironic that the flags were flown at half-staff for the young men and women who were killed at VT, yet it is never lowered for the death of a U.S. service member," Wilt wrote.
