A medly of events, seemingly unconnected, all come together in this space:  WiFi will kill your children, bosses want you to stop coming to work in order to save the planet, and Russia has decreed that 50% of all news broadcast over radio channels must be "good" news.  How does it all tie together, you may ask.  That's relatively easy:

The single most powerful religion on the planet today is the "Green" movement.  Anything relating to human activity is bound to be bad, and thus we have the Institute of Directors (whatever that is) over there in the U.K. calling for flex-time and staggered shifts to help save the planet from Global Worming.  At the same time (also in the U.K.), the chairman of the Health Protection Agency is pushing for formal studies of wireless networks "amid mounting concerns" that they may damage childrens' health.  Meanwhile, over in Russia, new broadcast mandates require that 50% of news must be "positive" in nature, and further require that the USA be cast as "an enemy" in most cases.

The planet is dying, due to Global Worming, and everybody knows that it's all the fault of the USA.  The USA built technologies that may fry little children in the U.K., and they also built cars which are now used around the planet and are causing Global Worming.  The Russians correctly recognize that its All The Fault of the USA, and therefore require that the USA be defined as an enemy.

If they'd thought of this 30 years ago, when everybody was blaming the USA for Global Cooling, it might have given folks a whole new outlook on the Cold War.
