The Superbug

Posted by MaxRedline @ 4:41 pm

We knew it was going to happen, and now it has.  The first of the new generation of superbugs has touched down in Japan.  It destroys the membranes of infection-fighting white blood cells, and is immune to a wide range of antibiotics presently in use.  The exact cause is unclear, but will probably be related to the fact that you drive a car, and will have nothing to do with movie stars and washed-up politicians flitting all around in private jets.  Carbon offsets, anyone?  Well, that might help "save the Earth" (and Mars, and Pluto), because your driving habits obviously affect the climate on Mars.  But will taking light-rail help in the fight against superbugs?

Hmmm.  It just could be that driving alone in your car might be safer than riding the choo-choo.
