Master Of Hypocrisy

Wow.  Famed atmospheric scientist AlGore was at the Oscar thing last night.  Flew in on a private jet.  Do As I Say, Not As I Do.  Global Warming: the new religion.

Gore’s mansion, [20-room, eight-bathroom] located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).

The War On Terror

Has it ever occurred to you to wonder why Bush opts for the "open border" strategery during a time of war?  It's pretty straightforward, really:  He talks about "fighting them over there" - but the whole idea is to bring them over here.  They don't know our terrain like we do, and so we gain an automatic upper-hand.  Add to that the fact that we afford easy access to things they've never had a chance to experience: alcohol, dancing, women not covered head to foot, Wal-Mart.  Once they're over here, they're overwhelmed.  It's like shooting fish in a barrel.  When you look at it, the strategery is pretty darned impressive.

BREAKING NEWS: WA Department of Revenue Missing Mail (FALSE ALARM - SEE 2ND UPDATE)

RECIEVED BAD INFORMATION - SEE UPDATE 2

Seems as if the Department of Revenue is missing tax returns, including possibly yours.  If you got a letter saying "We Have Not Received Your Annual 2006 Tax Return" in big blue print in the mail - you should call 1-800-631-4028.

I did and after waiting eight minutes, I explained the situation to the receptionist. After repeating back the gent's instructions to verify if the tax check was cancelled or if not resubmit with a letter explaining the situation and asking the penalty be waived, the receptionist admitted "we lost a lot of taxpayers' mail" (or something very, very close to that effect) AFTER I said I sent the return on the 29th of January - 3 days before the due date. I asked why there wasn't a press release and he said, "we don't control the mail".

What was supposed to be…

For me: I was supposed to be working and blogging off of my custom-build $1000+ computer today.  But I got the blue screen that only safe mode will let me get around.  Thank goodness I saved up for a $500 Dell laptop and asked for Christmas a Seagate external hard drive - and had a backup done yesterday… all in foresight and because of prior history with computer troubles.  The saints at SD3 Computers are going to get a buzz from me today.

For you: I mention this because I was going to do a special link-o-rama on global warming for both this blog.  But without my saved IE7 tabs, no use spending the next few hours hunting and pecking for 'em all.  At least I vividly remember that one of my favorite Canadian e-mail pals - Tasha Kheiriddin - made a comment on a Macleans.ca story about how a senior adviser to then-Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien admitted that Canada had, at best, serious doubts about meeting the Kyoto (global warming) Treaty targets when ratified in 2002.  So why did the then-Canadian (Federal) Liberal government sign the treaty?  Try, to "galvanize public opinion".  Remember that before you buy completely into the global warming solutions proposed.
