On Education

Here in the USA, the concept of education has largely been replaced by "vegetation".  Our schools have been overrun by vegetators who appear to believe firmly that science and math, reading and composition, and other mundane educational goals are vastly overrated.  More important, they believe, are "multiculturalism", self-esteem, and sexual "education".  This is a prescription for disaster.  As a direct result of the efforts of these vegetators, we are not raising the next generation of innovators - but a generation of restroom attendants.

In India and in China, vegetation is not encouraged as it is in the USA,  They value education as American institutions do not.  And if we don't remove the feel-good vegetators with actual educators, America will drop like a rock tossed into a still pond.

Mexican Anger Over U.S. Trespass

What a hoot!  The Mexican government's all upset because US fence contractors appear to have stepped ten yards into Mexico.  It's not a problem, though, if Mexicans step ten thousand yards - or even more - into the USA.  The hypocrisy is absolutely stunning.

Many Mexicans see the fence as offensive and say it will be ineffective and potentially cause more deaths in border crossings.

An estimated 1.2 million illegal immigrants were arrested in 2005 trying to cross into the US via the border states of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.

Darn.  If the see the fence as "offensive", then maybe they shouldn't go anywhere near it.  All that most of us see as "offensive" is the continued disrespect by Mexican nationals and their government for the laws of their neighbor to the north.

Building A Better Bullet Thrower

Courtesy of the Army Times:

Delta Force worked with a gun maker to come up with a better weapon. The 416 is now considered in many circles to be the best carbine in the world, but the regular Army is sticking with the M4 and M16.

After many bad experiences with the M4, and it's predeccessor the M16, in the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq, members of the Special Operations Command (SOCOM) worked with Heckler & Kock, makers of fine weapons, to come up with a better version of the venerable weapon.  The 416 reduces malfunctions, and increases parts life, while maintaining the same basic look and feel of the weapon.

The 416 is now considered in many circles to be the best carbine in the world — a weapon that combines the solid handling, accuracy and familiarity of the M4 with the famed dependability of the rugged AK47.
