Okay and Exposed Legislation

Posted by SVC Alumnus @ 8:54 am

The Okay) You may recall that I blogged on this blog about State Senator Mark Schoesler's tuition cap legislation.  Well, the Democrats eviscerated his legislation from a inflation and/or 50% of education costs to a simple 5.5% maximum cap.  The supermajority requirement has been removed.  I hate to sound ungrateful as Senator Schoesler did a good job, but I have a strong hunch the cap will be blown off in 2009.  I agree with the State Senator that predictability is nice, but I believe a genuine cap is better.  (SOURCE)

The Exposed) Did you know what the Washington State Legislative Democrats are trying to do under the dome?  Try, and this is no smear job:

  • Legalize "gay marriage"
  • Outlaw incandescent Christmas lights
  • Give prisoners free condoms, the franchise and half-time early release
  • Stop berry-pickers
  • More government control of health care
  • Automatic, annual gas tax increases
  • Eliminate the 1 percent property tax limit
  • Enact a state income tax
  • Infringe on the 2nd amendment
  • Bully agency fee-paying (non-members of a union forced to work in a closed shop or in a union-governed workplace) workers into subsidizing union politics
  • Graphic sex education to 5th graders  FIFTH GRADERS!!
  • Public finance of political campaigns
  • Oppose the surge to liberate Iraq

Go HERE to the State House Republican webpage for the legislation.  You can see for yourself.

I don’t much care about their opposition to the surge - that’s just a cheap and meaningless partisan shot.  The rest of their action plans are worthy of concern.  It’s interesting that Democrats don’t like to be referred to as Democrats, but rather as members of the "Democratic Party".  Especially as so many of their activities are clearly not democratic in nature - but socialist.
