Oregon's really got to get moving; we're falling way behind in the whole euthanasia thing.  The Swiss have just cleared the way to permit doctor-assisted suicide not only for people with terminal illness, but for people with mental illness.  Oregon's in danger of losing its "progressive" image to the Swiss unless the current legislature takes decisive action in the matter of finding creative ways to kill people.

While it's clear that any such effort to regain the high ground cannot be accomplished in the absence of an infusion of money, it also seems evident that Oregonians can support the goal by entertaining unique - and therefore typically Oregonian - venues for supplying that cash.  One very obvious candidate would be shoes.

In a particularly bizarre turn of events, Democrats have been fuming over President Bush's use of the word "Democrat" during his State of the Union address when referring to…um, Democrats.  They regard it as a slur, or a smear, or some damn thing; insisting that the proper term for their potty is: Democratic.  Now, while they've got their panties in a wad over the omission of two letters from their preferred potty name, is probably not the time to mention that they've spent years smearing and slurring Bush with outright falsehoods:  Bush Lied! being among the more popular themes.

It seems more than a bit hypocritical for Democrats to get all worked up over being referred to as Democrats when they have no compunction over spreading innuendo, deceit, and outright falsehood in the course of their tireless efforts to bring down our President and our country.
