Note to Mr Arkin: A Message from Sgt Jeffers, one of your self appointed mercs

To Mr Arkin, and all the other anti-military and anti-war notroots, here is the word from one of the "boots on the ground".

He clearly lays out the perspective of many of the military people I have spoken to.

Thank you Sgt Jeffers, for your service, and for your words.

Hope Rides Alone

USA Sgt. Eddie Jeffers, USA (Iraq)

February 1, 2007

I stare out into the darkness from my post, and I watch the city burn to the ground. I smell the familiar smells, I walk through the familiar rubble, and I look at the frightened faces that watch me pass down the streets of their neighborhoods. My nerves hardly rest; my hands are steady on a device that has been given to me from my government for the purpose of taking the lives of others.

More From The Religion Of Peace

A little town in Quebec has implemented a set of rules that appear to deeply offend some of their peace-loving Islamic immigrant friends.  In a nutshell, the rules state that the culture which immigrants left behind when they chose to leave their former countries "…cannot be re-created here".  Seems sensible enough, but some Islamics have mustered outrage over the whole thing.

All well and good; they're free to be as outraged as they can get.  Yet despite their protestations, it seems that a bit of guidance in regard to the rules of our culture are, in fact, in order.  Consider the recent news from Islamic villages on the subcontinent.  It is an unfortunate fact that some folks need a little help if they are to live in our society.  And that's where the liberals seem to get things all twisted around:  we don't need to "celebrate diversity".

Pity The Poor Illegals

There's a tent city that holds some 2000 illegal aliens, down at the southern tip of Texas.  The inhabitants are slated to be removed from the USA and returned to their home countries.  "Catch and release" is no longer in effect, and the result, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife…er, make that the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency has been a dramatic decline in illegal border crossings by non-Mexicans.  Cool.  Now we just need to work harder on the Mexicans.

Of course, there are whiners:

But civil liberties and immigration law groups allege that out of sight, the system is bursting at the seams. In the Texas facility, they say, illegal immigrants are confined 23 hours a day in windowless tents made of a Kevlar-like material, often with insufficient food, clothing, medical care and access to telephones. Many are transferred from the East Coast, 1,500 miles from relatives and lawyers, virtually cutting off access to counsel.

Hillary: Preachy, Screechy and Politcally Tone Deaf

 Red Marilyn Icon

Mrs. Clinton is firing on all cylinders:

  • she told a pro-Israel group she thinks we ought to talk some more with Iran, and maybe then, if that doesn't work…talk some more.
  • And today she channeled Hugo Chavez when she told the DNC Winter meeting that in aid of Energy Independence  she would expropriate the oil companies' biggest profits ever for an energy independence fund. Only she said "I would take" the oil profits, not expropriate (via taxing the bejeebers out of them).

My Views on Felon Enfranchisement Legislation - HB 1473

The below just got sent to Rep. Darnelle from my e-mail.

2 Feb. 2007

State Representative Jeannie Darnelle
darneille.jeannie@leg.wa.gov

Dear State Representative Darnelle;

I will be blunt and brief and hopefully somewhere bordering on civil.  Being a victim of at least 3.5 years of relentless bullying from Sedro-Woolley High School to the point of being physically and mentally damaged, I am rather hard on criminals and must inquire into your conscience.

How could you and your other co-sponsors not withdraw your legislation after the testimony on 31 January is beyond me.  At least the State House Democrats should be credited with blinking before proceeding.  I encourage you to do the right thing and withdraw this legislation or at least let HB 1473 die.  Let HB 1473 die for those whom died and were harmed at the hands of felons – let the felons pay all penalties before granting a return to civil society.  I don’t know about you, but I find that rather progressive.

William Arkin “inserts” some slightly more moderate comments

And I mean that literally.  Like a few other observant bloggers, I was suprised when this post appeared in his side bar:

A Note to My Readers on Supporting the Troops

I swear that since it magically appeared I have seen it move in position at least once, and now it appears just previous to his much more insulting "second" post, The Arrogant and Intolerant Speak Out.

Dan Reihl is fairly certain he did a late breaking time stamp change to artificially date it in between.

However, most everyone who read his second insulting post, The Arrogant and Intolerant Speak Out - time stamped 9:39 AM can't seem to recall the now middle post linked at top being there until sometime this afternoon.

Is Arkin pulling a John Kerry by back tracking, or attempting a triple flip that would put a world class gymnast to shame? The latter may be more true.
