Washington State’s New Anti Productivity Tax?

Originally from Sound Politics, Washington State is heading towards an income tax thanks to my state Senator, Jeanne Kohl-Welles, which comes as no surprise.

First of all, the chances of this passing are slim. Even the average rich Seattle guilty white liberal in the privacy of the voting booth is going to have a hard time filling in that circle. Even King County is going to have a hard time "enhancing" enough ballots to overcome the overwhelming opposition to this idea.

Here is the problem with an income tax, any income tax. While a sales tax discourages excessive spending, an income tax discourages, anyone? anyone? Income! How is income produced… anyone? anyone? by productive work. Why would anyone want to discourage productive work… unless… there was another motive such as, oh I do not know, the state simply wanting more revenue, specifically from the highest income earners in a class warfare manner.

If You Believe in Defeat… Please Read First

Read this first from a father of a British soldier, Kingsman Alex Green, who died in Iraq:

One of the things that I have found hard to deal with is the people who have called me to pass their condolences then gone on to tell me that the war in Iraq is wrong and that we should pull the troops out.

Of course war is wrong, but they are also wrong: we should not pull the troops out. If we had pulled the troops out last week, my son would still be alive but that is not the right thing to do.

If you want to take them out, fine, no British soldiers will be killed, but who will go in? It's as if the British public are saying 'We know there are going to be deaths in that country to restore democracy but we don't want our boys dying - send somebody else's.'

A Picture Is Worth 20,000,000 Deaths

Many thanks to Mr. Postman for this classic picture:

You KNOW the guy in back:  Joseph Stalin, Patron Saint of the Democrat Party.

You may NOT know the lady woman politician in front:  Sen. Jeannie Kohl-Welles.  Not my favorite politician in the State of Washington.

Stay tuned for updates concerning her.  She was worth several posts LAST session!

UPDATE:  Please note that I have added (as I should have when this was posted) the Category JUST FOR FUN.  Yes, I KNOW the context of the picture, which is the reason I linked to the Postman piece.  I probably should have made some even more snide comments about how appropriate it was for a King County Democrat to be pictured in front of Stalin, with that PARTICULAR quote in view:

'it's not the people who vote that count, it's the people who count the votes.'

A Perverse Call To Silence

While "liberals" always want the opposition silenced by any means possible, they've reached new levels of brazen intolerance and disrespect.  As noted previously here and in other places, the Dimocrat controlled Congress is looking to field a new "Hush Rush" bill under the guise of "fairness in media".  And speaking of "fairness in media", heeeere's Heidi!  The Weather Channel talking head, who refers to herself as a "climatologist" and unsurprisingly hosts a program "covering" global warming has come right on out and said that any weather forecaster who publicly disagrees with her view that Global Warming Is All Your Fault should have their professional certification immediately revoked.

This is bizarre, even for Lefties.  It's straight out of George Orwell's "1984" masterpiece, right down to the Thought Police.  Well, okay…that may be a bit much, as it appears that she's willing to let you think whatever you want.  You just can't express your thoughts if they diverge from the Party Line.  And should you dare to do so, punishment should be swift and certain.

Never Go Leopard Hunting With A Stick

Proper attire for disturbing large cats does not include flip-flops and a stick.  So it'll be interesting to see what Obama brings to the party now that Shrillary's already unsheathed her claws.  Looks as though he's dropped the stick and is moving toward big guns - in the form of "her" money; he's partying down with the likes of David Geffen and other Hollywood hoi-polloi.  That's drawing snarls and hisses, and swipes. Clinton's strategy is clear, and already unleashed: portray Obama as deceptive and manipulative (which, were it not coming from Hillary Clinton, might have been a workable approach).   Didja know he's Muslim?  Didja know he didn't really write his autobiography?  Didja know he likes trans fats? Didja know…

Get ready for a whole lotta "didja" as she circles the litterbox - this should be fun to watch!

Global warming 0 Consumers 1

The State Supreme Court dealt a reality check to Seattle City Light, and a win to Seattle Customers.

City Light ratepayers can't be billed for city's emissions reduction efforts

Seattle's effort to cut greenhouse gases was dealt a blow by the state Supreme Court today, in a ruling that says Seattle City Light can't bill ratepayers for work to offset its contributions to global warming.

In a divided 5 to 4 ruling, the court rejected the utility's program, which was a linchpin to its effort to be the first major utility in the country with no negative impact on climate change through the production of gases like carbon dioxide.

It's also an important part of Mayor Greg Nickel's much-publicized bid to get Seattle to meet the goals of the international Kyoto climate change treaty.

A pause to laugh.  Kyoto was a friggin joke, a scientific farce.  Thank you.  Continuing…
