Zero Tolerance

Published by MaxRedline under Northwest

It seems kind of odd, in view of the fact that most vegetators - oops, make that "educators" are "tolerant" leftists.  After all, leftists are always proclaiming their "tolerance".  But in most cases, their "tolerance" extends only so long as you agree with them.  Take a contrary stance, and they'll do their best to drop a safe on your head.

A recent example of "tolerance" comes to us from Rhode Island.

Managing The Internet

Published by MaxRedline under Northwest

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), a California-based non-profit company, manages the Internet's domain-name addressing system. It reports to the U.S. Commerce Department, which last September said it would retain oversight for three more years.

Some critics say the U.S. government has too much control over ICANN, which has evolved into a crucial engine for global commerce, communications and culture. Countries such as Iran and Brazil have argued that the Internet should be managed by the United Nations or another global body.

One teeny little problem with this idea, folks: the USA built the Internet!  The fact that other countries are permitted to use it doesn't make it theirs.  Why, AlGore, who helped invent the Internets, must be rolling over in his grave at the idea.

Glaser Supports AirHead America; Loses Shirt

Published by MaxRedline under Northwest

This is why I steadfastly refuse to allow any RealNetworks products on any of my systems:  Rob Glaser, Maria Cantwell.  Both are far left wingnuts who managed to make a lot of money from a media streaming software product, and then pushed it into strictly leftist causes.  Hey, it's their money, and they're free to do what they want to do with it - just as I'm free not to support them.

Maria bought herself a seat in D.C. after resigning as a RealNetworks exec, while Glaser - founder and CEO of RealNetworks - has dumped over ten million dollars into propping up the liberal talk radio network often referred to as AirHead America.  Unfortunately, liberal talk radio has never succeeded - and likely never will succeed.  Although Glaser views himself as "socially conscious", he is actually socially comatose - as is his favorite network.  As Airhead America spirals deeper into bankruptcy proceedings, sporting some $20.2 million in liabilities and $4.3 million in assets by present estimates, Glaser's unlikely to see much - if any- of his millions returned.

In the clearing stands a boxer

Published by MaxRedline under Northwest

Boxer said administration officials are trying to divert the public's attention from the serious issues.

"This is just typical of what they do. … The Bush administration always goes after me, and anyone who has been against the war from the start,'' she said. "It's 'kill the messenger.' ''

Lie-la-lie…Lie-la-lie lie lie lie lie

You just can't help it: that old Paul Simon song, "the Boxer" just zings through your head when she starts whining away.  Administration officials aren't trying to divert attention from serious issues, Babs - you're the one who decided to start the new year with a uterine war.  Now you're trying to backpeddle away from what you said, claim it was all a misunderstanding, and that the matter really hinges upon what the meaning of the word "is" is.  We're not as stupid as you credit us with being, Babs, so don't try to blame the Administration for your big mouth.  What a waste of a perfectly good face-lift….

Climate Change: Teach the science

Published by Aurelius under Northwest

That is the title of an editorial from the Seattle Post (lack of) Intelligencer concerning the Federal Way School Board requirement that teachers wishing to show Al Gore's PowerPoint on Film "An Inconvenient Truth", must run the decision through an administrator, and present the opposing viewpoint.

Quoth the PI :

Those Federal Way School Board members are such clever politicians. They have used bureaucratic rules to gore classroom exploration of climate change, a critical topic for students' futures.

To the contrary, the School Board feels that the debate is SO important to students future that they need to hear more than ONE SIDE of the argument.  And the use of the word "gore" is just a little over the line of cute.  I am sure the writer thought it was an inside joke, that only good Liberals would catch…
