Just read The Hill's Congress Blog and a post by Service Employees International Union Secretary-Treasurer Anna Burger decrying the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid on Swift.  Equating the raid to, being "harassed on the job, herded around by armed federal agents, and detained miles away from their homes and families without representation just for showing up to work" and "the use of unnecessary force, intimidation, and fear tactics against hardworking, taxpaying immigrants that will only make our problems worse."  Okay, Anna, quick question - have you ever had identity theft happen to you or a relative?  Top reason why ID theft happens - to support illegal immigration.

Secretary-Treasurer Anna Burger wants "a comprehensive immigration solution that makes our country more secure, protects and lifts up all workers, and recognizes the important contribution of immigrants to our economy and American society as a whole."  And enforcing the law doesn't make our country more secure as well as "protects and lifts up all" legal "workers"?  As Fox News noted, the raid was "in search of illegal immigrants who stole the identities of lawful U.S. residents and used their Social Security numbers to get jobs at the beef and pork company."  Also, "ICE officials didn't give the total number of people arrested but said workers were being apprehended on administrative immigration violations and in some cases, existing criminal arrest warrants. The warrants allow federal agents to arrest anyone at the plant who is in the United States illegally" and all except one plant had unionized workers.  Explains a lot, eh?
