Thursday Night Football - blech!

Posted by PerriNelson @ 2:14 am

Football on Thursday’s has always been pretty much a lackluster game. Tonight’s game was pathetic, from the commentary before the game about the NFC West being the “runt” of the league to the exceptionally dull and monotonous commentary during the game, to the truly horrific performance by the Seahawks.

The Seahawks offense blew chunks. The defense started the game out pretty well, leaving San Francisco with a whole mess of three-and-outs, but they couldn’t sustain it and the Offense couldn’t even capitalize on it.

It was just a matter of time before San Francisco managed to find their timing, and the Seahawks defense started to lose it. Missed tackles, sacks that turned into touchdowns and the like showed again that the Seahawks have been luckier than good this season.

A fourth quarter interception thrown by Matt Hasselbeck pretty much sealed the Seahawks’ fate. I can’t really find anything good to say about the Seahawks performance with the exception that they may have found someone who can catch the ball more often than not. D.J. Hacket had a career high 8 catches for 87 yards.

Oh, that and Shaun Alexander extended his record for consecutive games played with a ten or more yard run. Even that didn’t really help the Seahawks much. He didn’t even break 100 yards rushing tonight.

Even the Seahawks’ tenacity failed them as they just gave up steam and appeared to give up play in the fourth quarter. A last minute touchdown and extra point came too little too late.

I haven’t seen the Seahawks play this poorly since… well since four days ago. If they keep this up, they could end up losing the division to San Francisco. All that it would take is losing their next two games while San Francisco wins theirs.

The 8-6 Seahawks play at home against the 11-2 San Diego Chargers on Christmas Eve.

Don’t you have anything better to do but watch overgrown juvenile delinquents play with each others’ balls?
You could be out in your yard digging holes… And filling them in…:-)

Yeah, the game was rather painful to watch.  If it was boxing, they’d have stopped it after the second touchdown.

Yeah, I suppose I do have better things to do than watch football. Especially lousy football. Fortunately I can multi-task.
