Unknown Person of Unknown Religion Denied His Civil Rights to Practice Freely

Published by AndrewsDad under National

<sarcasm>Our pal Playing Possum has found another story about those Fascist Homeland Security people denying someone the right to practice their religion as they see fit.  What kind of country do we live in where someone is no longer permitted to "commit violent acts of jihad"?  If this is the new America under a Democratic Congress, I am moving to Canada.</sarcasm>

It’s Deja-Vu All Over Again

Published by MaxRedline under Northwest

As Gomer Pyle might say, "Surprise, surprise, surprise!". Bet you never saw this one coming, now did ya? Some 61% of Oregon voters passed ballot measure 37, and already the Democrats are dully pondering ways to change it. Same thing they did the last time voters said clearly "We want our land use rights back!". Some things never change. Of course, looking at the issue from their perspective, it's easy enough to understand how measure 37 could be a problem: it leaves their platoons of highly-paid "planners" high and dry. Between METRO and the City of Portland alone, some 500 "planners" are maintained with your tax dollars. If they are denied ways to "plan" to restrict or to eliminate your use of your property, then they really don't have much of anything to do. Oh, to be sure, a few dozen more could be tossed into a couple of Portland/Metro-specific "projects" - but only a couple. There's the "project" which involves "planning" ways to force people to live like gerbils in tiny boxes, and there's the "transportation project", which involves "planning" routes for more choo-choo trains and "planning" ways to force people to ride them.

Piled Higher and Deeper

Published by MaxRedline under Northwest

Ph.D Deb Frisch, who moved from Arizona to Eugene to be - in her own words - among fellow "moonbats", now has an arrest warrant. She got into a lot of trouble down there, then once in Oregon, Frisch was charged with stalking and telephone harassment. This is a Doctor who really needs to see a Doctor. And she gets hired to "teach"? It's long past time to take her off the streets. I shudder. I started to major in psych, but then I noticed that most everyone in the psych department were really screwed up.

Capitalism Works

Published by MaxRedline under Northwest

When given a chance, it actually works very well. Here in America, the left's approach is to try to kill it. So you see weekly "protests" outside a Portland furrier, in which "protestors" target not only the store, but anybody who happens to walk by. Portland police stand watch, but do nothing. Result: furrier simply decides to relocate the business out of Portland; opting to move to a suburban location where, presumably, such harrassment will simply not be tolerated.

The "protestors" accomplished only one thing: they persuaded a business that has been in Portland for over a century to relocate. Portland gains yet another empty storefront, and loses the hefty tax payments.

The War Not Fought

Published by MaxRedline under Northwest

Generally not reported in the lamestream media, which meticulously tracks every American death in Iraq, is the fact that each year, some 4,380 Americans are murdered in their homeland - by illegal aliens. We've been in Iraq for some 3.5 years. During that time, some what less than 3,000 Americans have lost their lives. And that is horrific; make no mistake. Yet during the same period of time, over 15,000 Americans have been murdered here, by illegal aliens.

But that's just the tip of the iceberg, as the saying goes. Another 4,745 die each year due to drunk driving by illegal aliens. Over 16,600 needless deaths during the time our troops have been in Iraq. Combined, a small city of over 31.5 thousand have been killed by illegal aliens during the period of time that our armed forces have been in Iraq.

The New York Times Hates Bloggers

Published by MaxRedline under Northwest

The Associated Press, along with the New York Times and other "major news sources" has a long and established history of twisting - and occasionally simply fabricating - their "stories".

Enter the blogosphere.

And are the lamestream media ever ticked. Bloggers revealed that a "trusted Iraqi source" for the AP never existed. And of course, the NYT has had some little problems of its own. Bloggers are holding them accountable, and they just aren't used to that. Unsurprisingly, they hate it.

But they'd better get used to it.

The AP source: one Capt. Jamil Hussein. Problem? He doesn't exist. The blog perspective that upsets them so much?

they still cannot prove to anyone that Capt. Jamil Hussein is a living breathing person because we sure the hell know that he is no police Capt.

The Flying Imams

Published by MaxRedline under Northwest

Well, Darn! What do you suppose those six guys were trying to do?

Although the men all boarded the plane together, they spread out once they were inside — as if mimicking the 9/11 hijackers — two in the front of the plane, two in the middle and two in the rear. According to the airline, some took seats not assigned to them. Thus establishing control of all entry and exit points on the plane.

Not just one passenger (as had been reported) but multiple people on the plane and in the airport prior to boarding reported that the group of men was acting suspiciously.

Writing in the New York Post, Richard Miniter reports that, contrary to reports that the airline acted precipitously or singled anyone out for "flying while Muslim," the captain of the flight consulted several sources — including a federal air marshal — before making the decision to remove the Imams. All agreed that the men were behaving suspiciously. USAir is my airline of choice from now on!

The Passing of Another Giant: Jeane Kirkpatrick

Published by Aurelius under National

Michelle Malkin has a great obit on this outstanding Stateswoman and Diplomat:

Her death was announced Friday at the senior staff meeting of the U.S. mission to the United Nations. Spokesman Richard Grenell said that Ambassador John Bolton asked for a moment of silence.

Michelle posted a piece of Ambassador Kirkpatrick's address to the 1984 GOP Convention:

Today, foreign policy is central to the security, to the freedom, to the prosperity, even to the survival of the United States. And our strength, for which we make many sacrifices, is essential to the independence and freedom of our allies and our friends …

The United States cannot remain an open, democratic society if we are left alone — a garrison state in a hostile world. We need independent nations with whom to trade, to consult and cooperate. We need friends and allies with whom to share the pleasures and the protection of our civilization.
