Rangel continues his disdain of the Military and insults my son.

I know I should remain respectful, but sometimes Rangel just makes me wanna beat the shit out of him. (pardon the profanity)
Hat tip on this is from Stop the ACLU. Here is Charlie's latest idiocy. Hot Air has the video:
I want to make it abundantly clear: if there’s anyone who believes that these youngsters want to fight, as the Pentagon and some generals have said, you can just forget about it. No young, bright individual wants to fight just because of a bonus and just because of educational benefits. And most all of them come from communities of very, very high unemployment. If a young fella has an option of having a decent career or joining the army to fight in Iraq, you can bet your life that he would not be in Iraq.
Why do these people even pretend that they respect the Military? It is such cheap lip service.
The obvious question is why does no one call Rangle on his Sexism. Last I heard girls go into the military too. But let's ignore that for a second.
To people like Rangel and Kerry, the only reason they like the Military is that to them it is a social dumping ground to put in all the losers. To them the military is just the infantry, a bunch of loser grunts with guns. Loser GUY grunts of course.
They apparently missed the Heritage study.
They ignore the truth that the Military is still led by Commissioned Officers. And conveniently they forget that those Commissioned officers attended some of the finest Colleges and Universities in in our country, like, oh maybe John Kerry?
Those officers obviously become the leaders, who march along side their men on the ground, but they are also the pilots who fly thousands of sorties in our most technologically advanced aircraft.
The are the Captains and officers of the Ships and Submarines in our Navy, who patrol the world's Oceans.
They are the advisers and aids who accompany the president daily and carry the "football", even as they are even the unnamed men who sit on watch in the fire control of our nations nuclear missile launch centers…waiting in case their most grim duty comes to pass.
But. they are also the Doctors and Nurses who care for the wounded on the battlefields and in hospitals. They are the Lawyers and Judges in the Military Court System.
Last time I looked, Doctors and Lawyers made a lot of money on the outside world, but here they are making a mere pittance of what they could potentially make on the outside.
On the enlisted side there are mechanics who service our nation's military vehicles, planes and ships; who could do better pay wise on the outside, but they choose to stay. There are medical technicians in those hospitals who also give up higher paychecks. There are communication technicians, computer technicians, programmers, developers and software engineers all of whom could do decidedly better outside.
Yes, many people join the military see it as an opportunity to get training that they might not be able to get otherwise. The military in this sense does a good thing in providing what I think is a valued service to society.
They have the ability to screen, classify and train people into places where they have the most aptitude. They learn, they train and they become skilled workers in many fields.
And of those, many choose to take that training and move to the private sector after their initial service commitment is up.
But many do not. Many even in the most unpleasant fields see their service as a career and chose to stay on active duty and retire. Many feel a pride of service that makes the sacrifices and lower wages worth it. Many feel a love of country and take pride in their service.
And please never forget the National Guard and Reservists who do both, who have good careers on the outside, and still sacrifice a prt of their lives for service.
And yes, some of these people become the grunts, the ground troops, the boots on the ground that are essential in any war. They are the ones who bear the brunt of the war, the deaths and injuries.
So let me ask Charlie to explain to me this: If he is right, and if "No young, bright individual wants to fight just because of a bonus and just because of educational benefits", Then why do people leave lucrative careers and join the military to drive tanks and to be ground troops? Why has the military continued to make its recruiting goals.
Because they see something in that service that Charlie does not.
Commitment. Patriotism. Honor.
And most of all, Pride.
I wish people like Rangel took pride in their service as well.
On behalf of the millions of men and women who have, are and will serve their country, including my son who is Navy bound, let me be the first to tell Mr Rangle to Sod Off.
Because Charlie? You obviously don't know shit about the military; about the men and women in the military; and most certainly you do not know jack about my son.
And you just made it personal.

You tell ‘em Karl. The young men and women in our Military are the finest in the world, bar none!
Rep. Charles Rangel is a hypocrite anyway. He brings these resolutions up to grandstand against the war and the military, and to parade about his notion of "social justice", but when push comes to shove he votes against them.

I’m sorry Karl, I can’t agree. I think it is obvious when he’s discussing "these youngsters" he’s discussing foot soldiers. Context: What percent of the 140,000 or so American service people in Iraq are actually gun toting Joes and Janes? About a third. The rest are those professionals on aggressive sabatical, so to speak. I think people need to keep that in mind when they evaluate our involvement "over there." There are two teachers, bureaucrats, mechanics, quartermasters, doctors, nurses, you name it - for every one man or woman dodging ieds on the road…
No wonder they can’t accomplish the mission.
In Gulf I, we very briefly mustered a half a million troops and the total force had a much higher "GI Joe" ratio. They were there to kill people and break things, which is what armies do. They weren’t there to build a democracy. So now we have about 90,000 democracy builders and occupation suppliers whose job is precisely the opposite of killing people and breaking things. I know, they can perform the soldiers basic task, too. But that isn’t the battle plan.
If in the end the only feasable solution is a military victory, we are going to need a lot more "GI Joes." If you look at that basic ratio, you realize footsoldier isn’t exactly the average enlistee’s highest ambition…
I’ll believe we can meet that need without a draft when I see it…

As The Rock would say, It doesn't matter what you think. He is an experienced politician and public speaker, so if that is what he meant he should have said so. Since he did not, he is responsible for the words he did say.

I never claimed not to be overly sensitive.
